I'm Not a Quitter, But I've Been Pushed...I Quit!!!

Anybody out there listen to podcasts to keep them going throughout each day? I do! I am literally tuned in to a new episode of Joyce Meyer, Devon Franklin, Steven Furtick, Mike Todd, or Focus on the Family DAILY to get my fill of encouragement, positivity, and the Word (how else would I learn to wear what I've been through so well?)

A few days ago, I found a new one: Brooke Castillo. She gave an amazing talk about giving things up that no longer fit into the lifestyle we are called to live. It got me thinking about who I once was, who I currently am, and who I am growing to be. She encouraged her listeners to make a list of the things we are done with (meaning you are settled on giving these things up) next to a list of things we want more of.

The things we are done with are things we should think of as "been there, done that", things we don't mind replacing with better experiences, things we don't mind QUITTING.

"Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold." -2 Corinthians 3:12 NLT

Every experience we've had should promote growth and encourage us to become better and wiser; therefore, some of the things we used to participate in don't belong in the next phase of our lives. It's all about embracing the inevitable change that occurs as we transition, giving up the things that no longer fit into the direction the God is taking us, and challenging ourselves to gain new experiences and turn over a new leaf (it is the season for change an d shedding, after all).

I love creating lists, so I thought I might create a printable to share with you in case you want to create a list of your own to help you get started with setting new goals. Here are a few things I came up with (I'm still adding to it):

You might find that the things you want to be done with have a counter response for things that you want more of. That is the prime example of how knowing what you don't want can lead you in the direction of knowing what you do want.

What have you had enough of?

What bad habits, mindsets, and character traits need to be shed?

What in your life has not continued to produce good results?

What area of your life are you fulfilled in and bearing good fruit that you want more of?

Share below, and let me know what new experiences you're gearing up for in the future! Out with the old, in with the new...it was fun while it lasted, but let's be done with some things and move on. Cheers to new possibilities!

The next time someone approaches you by saying, "You've changed," smile and reply "Good! You should, too!"
